Otago Polytechnic's Fully Automated Glasshouse

Aotea Electric Cromwell recently worked with the Otago Polytechnic to deliver a glasshouse for the future

The fantastic new 1.2 million dollar training facility measuring 630sqm is located at the Otago Polytechnic Central Otago Campus in Bannockburn, replacing the glasshouse at the Erris Street Campus in Cromwell. The Glasshouse will be used for the horticulture and primary produce disciplines.

The standout for this project was not the size of the glasshouse but the amazing features contained within, the windows are controlled by sun & wind inputs there are motorised shade cloths to reduce the heat and UV light on those sweltering Central Otago Summer days, heaters for the harsh winter climate and fans for air circulation.

Aotea Electric Cromwell were proud to have completed this project on time and on budget and embrace the challenge of working on innovative, forward-thinking projects such as this. We look forward to seeing the students put it to good use at the Bannockburn Road Horticulture Centre.
