Lead Engineering Excellence Across One of New Zealand's Most Critical Security Portfolios

Aotea Security is seeking an experienced and motivated Engineering Manager to provide engineering leadership across our growing  critical security portfolio.

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving technical excellence, engineering governance, quality assurance, resource planning and capability development across a diverse portfolio of secure facilities, national programmes and critical infrastructure projects.

You will work closely with senior leaders, project teams, operational staff and client stakeholders to ensure engineering standards remain industry-leading while supporting the successful delivery of business-as-usual operations, transition programmes and future strategic initiatives.

About the role

As Engineering Manager, you will provide engineering leadership and oversight of engineering activities across custodial and non-custodial environments. You will lead a nationally distributed engineering team and work closely with senior leaders, project teams, operational staff and client stakeholders to ensure engineering standards remain industry-leading while supporting the successful delivery of business-as-usual operations, transition programmes and future strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Leading and developing a nationally distributed engineering team
• Providing technical leadership, direction and decision-making
• Establishing and maintaining engineering standards and governance frameworks
• Conducting design reviews and technical assurance activities
• Driving quality, consistency and continuous improvement initiatives
• Managing engineering resources, workload planning and capability development
• Supporting operational service delivery through technical escalation and engineering coordination
• Working alongside project and programme teams to ensure successful delivery outcomes
• Supporting asset lifecycle planning, technology refresh and innovation initiatives
• Building strong relationships with our client stakeholders and key partners

About you

• Significant experience in engineering leadership or engineering management roles
• Strong background in electronic security, ICT infrastructure, automation, integrated systems, or related technologies
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams
• Experience with governance, quality assurance and engineering standards
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to influence, coach and develop high-performing teams
• Experience working within complex operational environments
• Relevant engineering, electrical, ICT or technology qualifications
  
  

Experience working in secure facilities, government environments, critical infrastructure or large-scale service contracts will be highly regarded.
