Key Projects

The Christchurch Transitional Cathedral

The Cardboard Cathedral, formally called the Transitional Cathedral, in Christchurch, New Zealand, is the transitional pro-cathedral of the Anglican Diocese of Christchurch, replacing ChristChurch Cathedral, which was significantly damaged in the 2011 Christchurch earthquake.

Aotea Electric installed all electrical components including colour change lighting, heating and electrical infrastructure.

Christchurch City Council Civic Offices

Aotea Electric completed the main electrical, communications, AV wiring and smoke curtain installation in Christchurch’s new Council Offices. The former NZ Post mail centre in Hereford Street was redeveloped by Ngai Tahu Property for the joint venture which opened in 2010. The Christchurch Civic Building now houses more than 1,200 Council staff and was the first office building in New Zealand to achieve a 6-Green-Star Office Built rating. It has also achieved a 6-Green-Star rating for Design and Interiors.

The Canterbury Earthquake National Memorial

Aotea Electric and Aotea Automation completed the electrical infrastructure and DMX lighting control for the Canterbury Earthquake National Memorial.

The memorial is a place to reflect on the 2010/2011 earthquakes that changed Greater Christchurch forever.
