Aotea Electric Auckland completed the electrical works for this award‑winning project, which involved the adaptive re-use of the existing B201N (North) and B201E (East) buildings, and a new build atrium.
This project included a total of 11 levels in B201E and 8 levels in B201N. The newly built Atrium includes a new café and an open-plan breakout area for events.
This was a complex and large project with multiple work faces operating in tandem. Aotea Electric Auckland had a large site team on the ground, including dedicated Project Managers & Site Managers positioned across multiple different work areas. The project also experienced many challenges, including Covid-19 isolations, onsite testing requirements and material procurement.
UoA B201 targeted a Greenstar 6 rating for Design and As Built certification. The sustainable design aimed to promote a quality building environment while managing resource use, energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Special consideration was given to the lighting throughout the building, with low-power consumption LEDS used extensively in tandem with a BMS-monitored lighting control system. Daylight harvesting was utilised in the common areas of the building to reduce power consumption. Plastic-based products such as cable, conduit, ducting and outlets/switches were chosen based on their ability to meet sustainable Greenstar best practice PVC manufacturing guidelines.
This project received a 6 Greenstar rating, supported by low-power LED lighting, a BMS-monitored control system, and strategic daylight harvesting. Plastic-based products were also carefully selected in line with Green Star best-practice PVC manufacturing guidelines.
