Aotea Electric Auckland completed all of the electrical and house lighting control for the ASB Theatre project in Auckland, bringing a new source of entertainment and enjoyment to Aucklanders and visitors to the city.
The ASB Theatre in the Aotea Centre, located at the western edge of Aotea Square, off Queen Street, provides a cultural and entertainment venue space in the heart of the city and is managed by Regional Facilities Auckland which also operates the Auckland Town Hall and the Civic Theatre.
The ASB Theatre project was to be completed in two stages, a year apart from each other with a strict and no compromise deadline. Aotea Electric Auckland completed all of the electrical and house lighting control from the plenum right through to the air bridges above the acoustic ceiling.
The project consisted of complex architectural lighting including LED strip installed at numerous opposing angles. The new electrical services needed to be incorporated into the existing services without interrupting all of the other areas throughout the complex, which Aotea were able to handle without any issues.
In the wake of the upgrade, the ASB Theatre won the inaugural Best Medium Venue at the Entertainment Venues of New Zealand (EVANZ) awards in late 2013.
