Aotea Electric Canterbury were engaged to install the electrical for Air New Zealand's brand new, first of their kind, eco friendly and sustainable timber hangar and classrooms in Christchurch.
Air New Zealand made the decision to build an eco friendly, sustainable timber hangar and classrooms at their Christchurch premises. This was a first for a building of this size to use alternative materials instead of the standard use of steel and concrete.
This building was locally designed and all products sourced locally, within New Zealand. Aotea Electric Canterbury were engaged to install electrical and overcame the challenge of alternative cable management systems to fit in with the design of the building.
The hangar is used as a training space for air craft engineers and is large enough to house one of the largest aeroplanes in Air New Zealand’s fleet.
