Electrical Project Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join our Commercial team. This role is ideal for someone who takes genuine pride in owning projects from initial planning through to successful delivery.
Reporting to the Contracting Manager, you will be responsible for managing electrical projects within our commercial sector. You will lead electricians and contractors, coordinate resources, oversee programme delivery, and ensure all work is completed to a high standard—meeting company expectations, customer requirements, and all relevant legislation.
This is a varied role offering a great balance of office and site-based work. You will provide technical support to field staff, contribute to operational reporting, and play an active part in the continued growth and performance of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage electrical projects from initiation through to completion
- Supervise and coordinate electricians, contractors, and site resources
- Plan and manage work schedules, labour allocation, and delivery timelines
- Prepare pricing, quotations, and project costings
- Manage project variations and maintain accurate project documentation
- Provide technical guidance and support to field staff
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, delivering excellent customer service
- Monitor quality, safety, and compliance across all projects
- Support operational reporting and performance tracking
- Assist with training and development of apprentices and team members
About You
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in electrical construction, with project management experience preferred
- Current Electrical Registration – (additional endorsements advantageous)
- Full, clean driver’s licence
- Strong knowledge of NZ electrical regulations, contract legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards
- Solid understanding of health and safety and site requirements
- Proven experience managing quotes, variations, and financial performance
- Experience in Microsoft Office (word/excel essential; MS Project advantageous)
- Strong communication and the ability to build lasting client relationships
- A confident leader who can prioritise workloads and make sound decisions under pressure
- A practical, solutions-focused approach and highly organised
- Experience in solar and/or medical projects is beneficial
- Must have the right to work permanently in New Zealand
